Start learning italian 3-5 months before - it will help you. Start searching for your apartment from April to June. Earlier does not make sense, later there will be nothing left. Check out the student communities on Whatsapp. Choose an apartment in Porta Romana! Many bars, amazing food, safe and close to Bocconi. You can fly - if you fly, than do Linate, or you can go by train, but obviously it takes a lot of time. With the flight from Linate you are in Vienna just in a few hours
I live private, I found it on a Whatsapp Group. Porta Romana - the most amazing place to live while studying, so many bars, restaurants and just 15 min walking to bocconi If you want to rent a whole flat just for yourself - the agency fees are super high. There are a lot of people who want to share apartments, this can help you not pay the fees.
The facilities are not as good as at WU, not as many study spots, but there are many bars and places around where you can study. Some buildings are old, but still in good condition and it does not get to hot in the summer. I learned from home, I do not need other people to co-study. Exams are less "expected", it can be a little more random, but its mostly single choice. Microeconomics exam is hard (it is called in a different way, I think something like marketing analytics 2, but just start preparing in advance) The italian exam gets easier the longer you stay there. And the english exam is easy, but just check for exact requirements on how to write the texts. All of the lectures can be taken as attending or non-attending student, it mostly just changes the difficulty and the duration of the exam. I can recommend to take the fashion courses, as they are very insightful and you really get hands-on knowledge from the industry experts.
for the entire exchange
Milan is alive!! The university has less to offer than WU, but just get out there, Milan has so many things to offer. Porta Romana is very safe and nice area to live, as well as Porta Venezia but its further away. Navigli is more loud and touristy, I would not suggest to live there. But in general everything 10-15 minutes around Bocconi is great. The fitness club is very expensive at bocconi, but the pool is amazing! So I suggest taking the pool membership, you get access to the pool and 1 time a week you can visit the virgin active gym. You can cancel it monthly and its half the price. But the workouts at virgin active are also great. Regarding events - the design week is a must!!! Visit as much as you can.
I fell in love with the city, it feels like living somewhere else, but at the same time beeing on vacation every day. Its really about the vibe of the city if you love chaos, fashion and friendly people. ' You get used to the chaos, I for example enjoyed it so much that I decided to stay here.
