Start with the visa process as soon as you can because it takes up to 6-8 weeks. Do good research on the location of the student accomodations because they are spread around the city and you would want to be close to the university. Get all of your vaccinations. When you arrive at the airport you can take the Airport Express to the City (Central) and then continue with either the bus or the MTR. There are also buses driving from the airport to the city (look at these, these might be faster). I took the taxi from the airport to my dorm because of luggage (it costs around 30€)
I lived in R.C. Lee Hall and I got it via CEDARS. Apply early enough as accomodation is not 100% sure (but everybody I was going on exchange with got a place in the CEDARS dorms). I wouldn't recommend R.C. Lee as you have to take the bus to uni every day (20mins) (and also where ever you want to go to because there is no MTR close). There was also no restaurants or grocery store close (only 7 eleven). I recommend Jockey 4 Student Village, as this is new and every one has a single room. In R.C. Lee I shared my room with another exchange student from China Mainland which was okay, but I guess I would have preferred a single room. Hong Kong overall is very very safe, I never felt unsafe ever.
The teaching style is very similar to WU. You have lots of assignments during the semester and some courses don't have end exams (there are mid term exams in some cases). The course level is easier than at WU (at least the courses I took). I recommend Business Transformation because the teacher is from industry and shares lots of Hong Kong specific insights. Do not do Applied/Advanced Game Theory, it is unnecessarily hard.
for the entire exchange
Public transprt is really good in Hong Kong and everybody uses it. However, as Hong Kong is pretty big going from one place to the other will take some time. Taxis are pretty cheap. Public transport is pay-as-you-use system (Octopus Card, buy at the airport or at MTR station). Hong Kong is very safe, I never felt unsafe. You can do hikes and go to the beaches which is pretty nice to do. Horse Racing on Happy Valley on Wednesday is a must-do for exchange students. University and dorm offer sports options, I joined a local gym (which was great to talk to locals).
I think Hong Kong is one of the best places for exchange. You can travel fast to all of South East Asia and China etc. I recommend travelling to China because it is very cheap there, it has great nature and lots of things to discover. The hikes are brilliant (do Lantau Peak!) and do camping in Sai Kung/Ham Tin Wan (best beach in Hong Kong). Try to make use of "colder" weather (January to March), it only gets rainy and humid after that.
