1. Preparation

I talked to a fellow student who did his exchange the previous semester for tips and recommendations. I reviewed all the necessary documents, vaccines, insurance, housing, etc. I also booked my flights with a flexible flight back to be flexible at the end of my stay abroad.

2. Accommodation

I took the previous room of the fellow student in a student complex off campus. Everything was super clean and nice, we had a pool, gym, club house, etc. The location was also really good (10 minutes with the bike to our campus). Safety was good, we had our own security.

3. Academic life at host university

The campus has a lot to offer. Gym, sport facilities, food, library. They also offer sports clubs for a lot of sports where u can join for little money and train and play weekly with fellow students. The teaching style is a bit different to WU Vienna, most of the classes have mandatory attendance, weekly assignments and 3-4 smaller exams. I recommend really taking a look at the broad pool of classes and take a look in the syllabus to pick the right classes for you.

5. Every day life in the host country

Public is not really good, there is a shuttle from the university to the different student accommodations but if you are planning to do something outside of campus you have to go by car. I felt safe most of the time but you should be cautious at night in some areas. For social and leisure activities there are a lot of options offered by the UCF global program and UCF in generell and also for every sport directly on campus at the RWC.

6. Testimonial

My semester in the US was an incredible experience that completely shifted my perspective on life and studying. Joining a campus sports club was an absolute highlight, as it allowed me to connect with locals and truly experience the vibrant American college culture. Ultimately, I learned to embrace a more laid-back mindset, returning home with a much healthier balance between academics and my personal life.
