1. Preparation

Coming with plane is easy. Book an appointment for the metro card in advance and get the abono joven. Beware of scammers when trying to find a room. No deposit in advance etc. . Learning some Spanish may help a lot

2. Accommodation

I searched on wg gesucht just for fun and found my landlord there. Turns out he lived in Germany and thus spoke some German with me. Lived in a full house with 3 pisos and hade my own room, shared a bathroom and kitchen with 2 roomies. Lived around Salamanca which I can only recommend, but if you want to be more immersed go around the centre. From there the commute to UAM is pretty easy as you can of have to the a Renfe from one of the stations.

3. Academic life at host university

Facilities quite old compared to WU, but still good. More laidback vibe in my opinion, but maybe bc of the courses I chose. Teaching style pretty similar, but prepare for more spanish than you would expect. Can recommend courses in English if you don't speak spanish. Maybe in the tourism degree.

5. Every day life in the host country

Metro is working really good, safety is good had no issues, activities everywhere

6. Testimonial

I came here to test the waters for potentially moving here after my studies and practice my spanish. I'd say both was really worth it as you can immerse yourself into the whole culture. I had to chance to travel to the south during semana santa and witnessed spanish culture in its best. I recommend travelling into the south and north and try to get to know local people
