Most importantly - get a room for the duration of the exchange semester. Pack everything necessary you need for your daily life and for university. I traveled by plane to Amsterdam and then buy train to Groningen, because I did not have enough time between my last exam and the start of the exchange semester - but if I would have had more time I would have traveled by night train in order to get the green travel bonus.
In Groningen it is very difficult to find ordinary apartments for rent, especially for such a short time. Therefore I would highly recommend getting a room from SSH Housing. Inform yourself about the deadlines and try to be as early as possible with the registration as rooms a have high demand. I can recommend the SHH building Kornoeljestraat 2 where you have your own room and bathroom, only the kitchen is shared with your flatmates.
The business and economics campus is called Zernike and it is outside the city centre, but easy to access by bike. The library in the city center is great for studying. Professors are quite comparable to WU professors, it always depends on each person obviously. I can highly recommend the courses Global Political Economy, International Strategic Management and International Business Law.
for the entire exchange
Public transport works well, but it's very expensive. I recommend getting a bike from Swapfiets as it's quite cheap and everyone uses it. You can register for the student sports association ACLO - it's very cheap and you can do a lot of different sports. In the city center you have a lot of great bars where you can go out with your friends. The Netherlands is very safe.
I meet a lot of new people and made a couple of very close friends, which is very nice as we will visit each other in the future. Also my academic horizon got broadened by experiencing a different student culture at a highly recognized university. Traveling around the Netherlands and to neighbor-countries like Belgium was a great experience - there is a lot to see!
