1. Preparation

I personally think that these reports are a great way to prepare for your exchange. I would definitely try to focus on booking an accommodation immediately after the acceptance.

2. Accommodation

I can highly recommend Stay in Athens, especially Sporgilou 4. It is a lovely Erasmus residence, and the hosts are incredibly helpful and caring. It is also the first home that gets booked on the website, so I recommend booking it as soon as you can. It's in Kipseli, very close to uni and Victoria Station. The neighborhood is safe and perfect for students. It has many supermarkets, kiosks, and cafes. Overall, I highly reccomend staying in a shared apartment, especially Erasmus ones.

3. Academic life at host university

Overall, the courses are quite easy to pass. Don't worry too much about the selection of courses in the beginning. First 2 weeks of classes, there's no attendance - it's recommended to use that time to go to all the classes and see which ones you like most. The schedule of classes is also released only a week or two before the start, so give yourself the time to experience the classes and change your OLA after that time if you need to. After the "no attendance" weeks, you have 3/4 absences that you can use. The classes are also often cancelled, but the only way to see it is by logging into e-class and checking announcements. They don't really send other notifications. They give you an email, but I never got anything on it. I definitely recommend Money and Capital Markets. If you are comfortable with math and finance, the exam consists of three very easy exercises.

5. Every day life in the host country

There's a 6/3/1 month ticket for public transport in Athens. To get it, you need a student ID (they sometimes allow you to buy it if you show the enrollment document from the AUEB, but often not). I recommend applying for the Uni ID as soon as you get the link from the uni. You also need the ID for the cafeteria and ferry student discounts. For many great events, it's best to follow ESN Instagram accounts of all unis, not only AUEB but also Kapa and Panteon. They all create great trips and activities that are an amazing way to meet new friends.

6. Testimonial

The uni schedule and workload were perfect for exploring Greece. I did a lot of day trips to islands near Athens that I wouldn't have a chance to explore otherwise.
