1. Preparation

Start looking for accommodation early on! Know in advance, attendance is not mandatory in most courses except the first week for CEMS activities and kick off. The exchange will be expensive, be prepared, copenhagen is way more expensive than austria. Winter is cold and summer doesnt really start before June, so you dont need summer clothes if you are there for the summer term

2. Accommodation

I lived in Nimbusparken, a student dorm for exchange students provided by CBS. You had to apply for it and then we got the information i think 3 months before starting and immediately had to confirm our stay and pay our deposit It was a student dorm, I had my own room and bathroom, 12 people shared one kitchen. The location was super safe, close by all the relevant university buildings like Daglas and Graduate House. There's a metro station nearby and it takes you around 20 minutes per bike to get to the city. Overall, I can recommend living in Frederiksberg to everyone Things I wish I'd known beforehand: The majority of the students living there were bachelors students most of them living alone for the very first time, which means that they really loved going out and it was always pretty loud as the walls are VERY thin.

3. Academic life at host university

No attendance is mandatory, meaning a lot of students do not attend class there and you are often only 10 students per class I would say the teaching style is way more academic in the sense that you need to read a lot of papers, study them by heart and know all of the authors names for the exam Personally, I prefer a more hands-on teaching style with smaller submissions, presentations and group work rather than only one exam, which sometimes even is only one paper course recommendations: for electives, look at the learning requirements beforehand

5. Every day life in the host country

Public transport is super expensive but january is very cold so i would recommend getting the metro ticket for a month, then i would recommend getting a swapfiets bike Copenhagen is a safe city, i never felt unsafe and people walk/bike home all the time, no matter when There is a fitness x gym close to nimbusparken where they have great monthly subscription specials

6. Testimonial

Copenhagen is a great city to live in and we. can learn a lot from the danish people - not only from their way of living and mindset but also from the system in denmark (everything is super clean, the metro runs 24/7, healthcare is free, the state supports students working ext to studying etc.) As the winter was extremely cold, spring felt better than ever before.
