1. Preparation

Make sure you have everything regarding entry to Singapore ready. The university provides a comprehensive guide so that you have everything.

2. Accommodation

I applied for on-campus housing through the NTU portal and ended up being assigned a double room in Hall 10. As far as I know, the rooms are assigned randomly. I applied for a single room with AC and got a double room with AC. Some of the halls have AC almost in every room, some of the older ones do not. You can get anywhere on campus in like 20 minutes via the shuttle bus. There is no fridge, but you can get your own (then you also have to pay a fee for having one).

3. Academic life at host university

The facilities were nice, the culture and teaching style is a little different compared to WU. There are lots of group works and the environment tends to be more competitive, as everything is graded on a bell curve. But overall nothing too difficult in my opinion.

5. Every day life in the host country

There are multiple shuttle lines on campus to get around, very reliable. Other than that there is a bus going to the MRT station to get you to the city center, and they are also developing and MRT station on campus, so in a few years it should be easier to get to the city. Now it takes about an hour or more. Singapore is very safe, no concerns about that at all. I did not participate in the social activities organised by the university but there are some. I found it a bit difficult to make friends among the local students, but the exchange students tended to be much more outgoing, and there are about 800 of them, so you can definitely make friends. There are multiple football courts, basketball courts, a pool, tennis courts, track, pingpong tables and badminton courts. There is also a free gym, but for the size and the recognition the university gets, it is quite average.

6. Testimonial

My exchange semester was a great experience overall. Singapore was great for travelling around South East Asia, I went to about 7 countries. It is a very interesting country with a lot of different cultures blending. I would for sure recommend going there for an exchange semester.
