1. Preparation

- Start early, especially with motivation letter + modules list. - Be specific in your motivation, Warwick likes focused interests. Tips for preparing your semester abroad: - Expect to live off campus, the partnered accommodations are amazing - Join WhatsApp groups for Warwick students – super helpful. - Pack warm + rainproof clothes - Don’t overload on classes, you’ll want time to travel and join societies.

2. Accommodation

First I applied for on campus living along with my peers. All of us were rejected from that but we received partnered accomodation offers at student dorms in the center of Coventry. Apart from the walls being thin and therefore hearing my flatemate snore and the walls smash at night I'm satisfied with it. It takes about 20 minutes to get to university by bus.

3. Academic life at host university

- Huge campus, everything in one place (libraries, gyms, bars, cafés). Library is open long hours and super modern. - More independent work than at WU. profs expect you to read A LOT on your own. Nobody checks on you, but you’re expected to show up prepared. - Smaller seminars + fewer lectures. Classes are more discussion-based. Grading can be tough. Compared to WU Vienna: - Fewer exams, more essays. - Workload feels “lighter weekly” but heavier near deadlines. - Students are super involved in clubs/societies, which is a big part of uni life (way more than at WU).

5. Every day life in the host country

Getting around is mostly by bus between campus, Coventry, and Leamington Spa. It’s not super fast but reliable, and the area feels safe overall. Student life revolves around sports clubs and societies. Joining a club and living at a student dorm is the easiest way to meet people. Going out is very “pub culture.” There are bars and a student club night on campus, but most people prefer Leamington Spa for better bars and clubs. Drinks are pricey, except from Whetherspoons, but the nights out are fun and very social.

6. Testimonial

My semester at Warwick was super social, very campus-focused, and way more independent academically than at WU. I loved the mix of societies, sports, and fun nights out, even though everything was a bit pricey. Overall, it was a great experience if you like a lively campus life and don’t mind doing a lot of self-study.
