Begin looking for accomodation in time! It can be the trickiest part of preparation. Find out if there is any way to get in contact with other exchange students. We had an app called Goin' that let us chat with exchange students before arriving.
I got lucky with my accomodation. The student housing association hosted a lottery, and I was fortunate enough to get a great outcome and lived in my own studio apartment. There was unfortunately no furniture, so I had to buy it all myself. The location was great, it was a 10-15 min walk to the center, under 10 minutes cycling to campus, and also not too far from nature. It was overall very safe and a quiet area, except on some weekend nights when students would be partying. The area I stayed at was called "Ulrikedal". If you are coming to Lund, remember to register for the Af Bostader and LU acommodation lotteries! As exchange students, we have preferred access to their accomodations. Facebook is another great place to look for accomodation.
The classes in Lund are amazing! If you value an individual learning style and little in-person lectures, this is the place for you. An average week for me consisted of a 2 hour lecture on Mondays, 2 hours on a Wednesday and occasionally something additional on a Friday. Furthermore, there are many group projects, which mean you learn by doing and applying, not only by listening to a teacher talk for hours.
for the entire exchange
Lund is a really alive student city! There is something to do for everyone, with the Nations being the main organizers of activities and events. The Nations are kind of like student associations. They have clubs/bars, offer cheap food and host sports and other activities. Look into their Novice week programmes if you plan on going to Lund! Lund is also well connected, very safe and has many outdoor and sports options.
My exchange semester at Lund University was full of great memories, new friends and exciting classes. I learned a lot about myself, but also about Swedish culture. I gained a deeper understanding of innovation and marketing in my classes, and spent weekends exploring with my new international friends. There is always a party somewhere in Lund, and the semester was an unforgettable experience.
