1. Preparation

Inform yourself about the University and the courses, especially the recommendations for the courses. There are some complicated and sometimes you need to take some previous courses at the University. Also, if you want to travel. Make a plan what you want to do and when, align it with your schedule. It can and probably will change in the end, but to have an idea is very helpful. Also think about what you want to do BEFORE the semester and AFTER the semester. If you can, it's easier to book a flexible ticket, in case something changes. Get all your documents ready. Make a folder with all important data, passwords, screenshots, etc. so you don't have to search long for it. And in case, print some important documents.

2. Accommodation

My accommodation search was quite easy and fast because I was living on campus and the application was also easy and fast for my university. Choose for SFU the Courtyard (the newest one), West and East towers (are also quite okey), or the Townhouses, these are like small Houses where you live with 3 other people. there is also a meal plan, would definitely recommend it, so you don't have to cook, because the kitchen are mostly occupied or not soo nice to cook in (except the townhouse, there it doesn't really matter). But the meal plan was very good and the dining hall is 24/7 open.

5. Every day life in the host country

On campus is a free gym and they have some sport courses extra, there you have to pay but the prices are student friendly. There is a bus directly from campus to Downtown, or you make an account for Evo (Car share). In the beginning there a couple of events for exchange students which are quite cool
