1. Preparation

Main Tip for going to Texas A&M is start to look for housing as early as possible and start with the Visa applications.

2. Accommodation

The possibilities to find housing is over Facebook Groups, Student Housing or American Campus Society (I think its called like this). Facebook is the best way to find a sublease, there are 2/3 Facebook Groups were 90% of the Subleasing Housing is offered. It works quite easy and most exchange students found there housing over Facebook. Another way is student housing, but be careful the only real option is the Gardens Apartment. A lot of exchange students lived there. Then you can find it over American Campus..., but most Housings there is a one year lease and not one semester. Tips: Stay as close as possible to Northgate or WestCampus for Business Students. Everything else is to far away and you will be at Northgate quite a lot. I lived at U-center they offered a semester lease, but it's very expensive. It's very nice and close to Norhtgate though.

3. Academic life at host university

The campus is huge, but I had class only at Westcampus. Teaching style is very similar to the WU with a lot of Attendance. You have two hours per week for each course. One thing is that they have a lot more Tests and Papers etc. So you basically have something to do all the Time, but at the same time its not that difficult. But I was still surprised with the Amount of Quizes etc.

5. Every day life in the host country

College Station is basically just the University. It is like around 2 hours with a car away from every major city. But the University is Huge, it has the largest student body in the whole USA. And the Campus is insanely big, but not that beautiful. So the life in College Station is mostly just University life. There are three big things to do in College station its Sports, Food and Partying. Sports there is completely insane, they have multiple Rec Centers, which look like straight out of movies. Massive free Gyms, with Basketball, Soccer pitches etc. They have free Pickleball, Tennis, Volleyball centers. They are huge and nearly all of the exchange students did a lot of sports there. They have students leagues, where a lot of people participated either with their own team or as a free agent. Drinking and Food is good as well. Most partying is at Northgate. You need a bicycle. Public transport is not existence it's mostly just to get to university but still not good. Traveling is not that easy as well, if you want to go to the big city you either need to rent a car or have American friends. And the airport transport is bad. So it's gonna be expensive. But it's still possible we travelled a lot as well. Definitely go to New Orleans and Austin awesome citys and you can drive to both. But the best thing about Texas A&M is American Football. There stadium is insane 105.000 people!! I think everybody will have a great time there, but a small side note the exchange program is like 90% boys.

6. Testimonial

Overall the exchange was super nice, but it's really hard to leave the city to travel and its a small town. It's important to find nice people, but then you will have a really great time! Gig'em Ags!
