Preparations are going well via NTU. You receive all the information you need by email in good time. The staff in Taiwan are always available to answer any questions. Getting a visa is very quick and easy at the Taiwanese visa office in Vienna. You should check your vaccinations in good time.
You can apply for a student dormitory. I didn't get a place, so I rented an Airbnb. Local rental sites are cheaper, but there are language barriers. Safety is very good throughout the city. I would choose accommodation close to the MRT so that the journey time to university isn't too long.
The courses are similar to those at WU. There is a lot of group work and presentations. The infrastructure at the university is very good.
for the entire exchange
Life in Taipei is significantly cheaper than in Vienna. It is very safe. There are many opportunities to join sports clubs at the university. The food is good and varied, but not suitable for vegetarians. Public transport is very good.
My time in Taipei was really cool and I enjoyed it. There are lots of things to do in Taiwan, whether it's hiking, swimming or visiting museums – it's very diverse. It's also very easy to explore the surrounding countries if you organise your lectures well. The weather is very hot and humid in summer, but it's more pleasant in winter. The people in Taiwan are very, very nice.
