I lived in a double shared room, in Halsell Hall on campus, it was generally the best hall to live it - we had the most space and it was very convenient to go everywhere. Research the house you will in, that's the most important - ask on yikyak or reddit or just online wherever you can find information. Apart from Halsell Hall, the ILLC is also a good place to live on campus.
it's a much bigger campus than WU, it was kind of a shock at first. It was very walkable on campus, though there was a Beaver Bus going around campus that I never used. Everything is Beaver, even the tasks in class to support the university's sports teams. in regard to academics, I chose artsy classes so I can definitely say they were not demanding at all, however, from what I saw my roomates learning, it seemed pretty difficult when it came to maths in econ.
for the entire exchange
In Corvallis i only used public transportation once, it's free in the whole city and was a pretty good experience, There was a few places in the city that had a little more homeless people nevertheless I never felt unsafe. there's a lot to do in regards to social activities, organized by the university and its sports teams.
I definitely recommend going to OSU for you exchange semester - it's without a doubt a very special place in the U.S and a very beautiful one at that. You can do plenty of short trips, go on many hikes and see America in a new light, at least that's what happened to me! People are mostly very nice and helpful. though there isn't much information on OSU online, it's a great place to be for 3-4 months.
