1. Preparation

For the application process, simply follow the guidelines provided by WU and the host university, which are very clearly outlined. For the semester abroad, I would start looking for accommodation about 3-4 months in advance. And I would take a close look and compare, as some flats are offered at inflated prices.

2. Accommodation

I knew relatively quickly that I would choose a shared flat with pamplonarooms, as a good friend of mine had also been in Pamplona a year earlier. The flat was about an 8-minute walk from the university, which made for a pleasant commute. At €490 per month, it was also one of the cheaper options; however, I wasn't so lucky with my flatmates when it came to hygiene, for example. Overall, I can still recommend pamplonarooms.com, as all of the organisation's flats are close to the university. I know from my fellow students that some of them had to travel 30 minutes by bus, which is a very long time in Pamplona.

3. Academic life at host university

The university campus is really beautiful. There are lots of sports facilities on offer. For example, you can play padel and tennis for free, as well as football and basketball. In terms of academic life, there were two faculty buildings that were relevant to me. The university isn't big, so you can be sure that you'll always bump into someone you know when you go there. The teaching style is a bit old-fashioned, as laptops and mobile phones are not allowed in many lectures. Even in my e-commerce courses, for example, we were not allowed to use any devices. In general, the professors are very nice and I had presentations/group work in almost every course. In some courses, attendance was part of the grade, so the grade could be improved or worsened by attendance.

5. Every day life in the host country

At the beginning, I bought a bus ticket for €12 at a tobacconist's, which I didn't use up by the end of my semester. Normally, everything is within easy walking distance. The taxi situation is a bit difficult, as there is no Uber in the city. The city is safe and you can walk around at any time without worrying. The nightlife is very cool. Every Thursday, people meet in Calle Estafata, where a beer or wine costs around €2-3. If you want to go to a club at the weekend, you have to bear in mind that the Spanish don't start partying until 2 a.m. Before that, the club is empty. In general, however, the Erasmus organisation offers a lot. From trips to the Basque Country to game nights and karaoke evenings.

6. Testimonial

I had a wonderful time here in Pamplona. I was a bit sceptical at first, but gradually I became glad to be spending my semester in a slightly smaller city. The students, professors and people in Pamplona are all very friendly and I had a great time. I can recommend everyone to explore the Basque Country more (Bardenas Reales and San Sebastian, for example)
