1. Preparation

Automatic allocation based on score achieved in the first course in the masters programm. Probably different for every master. I was able to rank different options and then got the best match that was still available.

2. Accommodation

The university provides housing, there are many options and you can rank your top 3 and will most likely get one of them, if not you will get offered a different option. You will only know where you stay when you arrive or if you are lucky a few days in advance if you arrive late. I stayed in Raslätt, which is a little outside the city center. However, I got a bike and its only about 15 minutes to university/city center and by bus its about 25 minutes and they go very regulary. You can share an appartment with 1 other person or even 6, this is random. I shared an appartment with 2 other people and had a very big room with my own balcony. It's the cheapest option and in my opinion the best choice. Saftey wise it is known the be a ghetto, however this is complete nonesense as I found it to be very safe and its a very green area with lots of sport infrastructure close by. Only downside is the washing slots, as in my case they were booked all the time and you had no chance to wash spontaneously. I would definetly choose raslätt again, as its the only accomodation with a nice common area with table tennis, pool, 2 tvs etc. and i was very satisfied with my stay there overall.

3. Academic life at host university

I found the courses to be not very challenging, lots of essays and presentations with only 1 small exam across my 4 courses. You only had to be present for seminars/workshops which was very doable. There are many interantional students and the courses are very interactive which I liked. The campus is of course much smaller compared to WU, but its completely fine and does the job.

5. Every day life in the host country

Buses go very regualry. I recommend getting a cheap bike as well at the second hand store next to O'learys (They are there every Tuesday/Thursday) as its very convenient. Jönköping is a very safe city with lots of stuff to do. The uni offers lots of different sports courses and there are events on a regualr basis.

6. Testimonial

I really enjoyed my time in Jönköping, the city had the perfect size for an exchange and is very welcoming for exchange students. The 10 day Kick-off is unique, I would recommend going to every activity and really making use of that time, I got to know my best friends during the Kickoff and we did lots of fun stuff together over the course of the semester. I also travelled a lot (9 day roadtrip to Norway, a week in Lappland, Stockholm, Kopenhagen and different cities in Sweden) which was definetly the best part of the exchange. I would definetly do it again and would recommend anyone to do their exchange in Sweden.
