1. Preparation

I would say that preparation involves taking practical steps to ensure a smooth stay. This includes finding suitable housing and familiarizing oneself with the location of the university. I would recommend improving Spanish skills aswell as the area around the university is not very touristic and almost no one speaks english. Additionally, getting any recommended vaccinations, especially for further Travel is advised.

2. Accommodation

ITAM announces Student housing options at a certain point and its important to act quickly. There are several Student residences near ITAM. If you are staying there one Semester i would recommend to choose their housing options. All of them are close to ITAM (5-10min walking) and Are considered as very Safe - tbh this area is one of the safest in CMDX so you should not be nervous at all. The best options are Casa Hidalgo or Yucatan.

3. Academic life at host university

The Campus is overall well organized and easy to navigate. There are plenty of good Taquerias and coffee places around the university where one can grab lunch or Dinner. The Academic culture is quiet ambitious with motivated Students and teachers who take the studies seriously. The Campus is very clean and overall ITAM is an excellent University counts as Nr.2 in México. Teaching style is similar to WU, as courses mainly consist of lectures combined with group work and projects. Overall, the Academic Level is comparable but less demanding than WU

5. Every day life in the host country

México City is a huge metropolitan area with extremely heavy traffic. For daily transportation many people rely on Uber, which is the safest but Most expensive options. Public transportation such as Metro Bus is available as well and good during rush hour but also very limited (not everywhere). Regarding safety the areas where you will be as student Are pretty Safe. Just dont Go to eastern parts of the City like Ixtapalapa. In terms of social life and sport options, there Are plenty of things to do and regularly activities hosted by Student residences. Also México City has 2.5x the inhabitants of Austria so there are infinite of options and things to do. You will not get bored I promise.

6. Testimonial

Overall, the experience was truly incredible. Living in a completely different culture and adapting to a new way of life was something that cannot fully be explained in words. Many things are handled very differently, which made the experience especially exciting and enriching. I met many new people, discovered a different cuisine and gained a new perspective on everyday life. It was a wonderful time that thaught me a lot Both Personals and academically and I think it was one of the best experiences i will ever be able to experience.
