Buy plane tickets and find accomodation as soon as possible. I would recommend a direct flight to Toronto. Be aware of scams when looking for accommodation.
There is no much useful support when looking for accomodation, for me it was a long process. I booked a room through AirBnB and messaged the landlord to negotiate a price for the days of my stay. We nogotiated 710 euros per month and I used it for 3 months and some days (which is less expensive than a 4-month contract). The acommodation had everything included, even kitchen and washing supplies so you don't have to worry about extra costs/effort when you arrive in Kingston. It was a king-size bed in a private house, 15 min walk from campus. Definitely had a great experience there and Canadians are very hospitable!
The campus is very pretty and the building where we had our lecture has a charm. Academic cultutre was focused on encouriging curiosity and positive environment, I definitely enjoyed my lectures there more than those in WU. Academic workload was not substantially different. Most projects were done in teams, team environment was great and very encouraging. My favourite part was definitely the strong academic staff.
for the entire exchange
The public transport in Kingston is free, and the city is safe, but there are a lot of drug addicts walking around, so be mindful of that. There is a weekly event organised by the MBA students, and some of the exchange students were partying a lot, so there's definitely nightlife if you're looking for that. There's a good selection of sports you can do there, and the gym is free. Other than that, there is not much to do in Kingston, I was traveling when I had free time and saw most places in that part of Canada.
The exchange in Canada was really a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I definitely recommend if you have the chance. The academic staff is excellent with a rich professional background, and the classroom is filled with students from all over the world. Canada is a really hospitable country with the friendliest people in the world. My favourite part of it was the opportunity to travel and explore all the provinces in the east part of Canada.
