1. Preparation

I suggest all students to take their time to choose the universities. It is important to go through the list of offered courses, information about the university but also information about the city in advance in order to make the right choice.

2. Accommodation

I have searched on Spotahome, Uniplaces, Whatsapp group and Facebook. It is important to be careful because there are many scammers. I lived in the WG with other two people. I managed to find the room via Facebook group. I rented it from a girl that went on Erasmus as well so it was a good way since the time period was ideal for both of us. I lived in Trieste, close to Libia station. Very convenient location and LUISS is approachable within 30 minutes by foot. It is very sage neighborhood with a lot of students. However, the accommodation is very expensive in comparison to Vienna.

3. Academic life at host university

I really liked the university. I took the courses in the area of my specialisations. Overall they were a little bit easier than what I am used tu at WU, but maybe I was just lucky. However I learned a lot of useful things. I even took master courses. Campus is very beautiful and there is a lot of space to study in the garden. In the winter it si a bit more difficult because space for indoor studying is very limited. Professors were very friendly and always happy to help. I did not like the infrastructure of the classes because often they are very long and students at the back do not properly see the screen.

5. Every day life in the host country

Public transport does not work properly in Rome, therefore it is very important to find the accommodation close to the university. The best is to have it so close that one may walk there in case the bus does not come. Metro is more reliable, but not close to the campus where I had all the classes. However, there is also LUISS shuffle bus. very useful. Rome is very beautiful city with many students so there is always something to do-really good but expensive social life. Overall, it is quite safe but there are some districts which should be avoided. There are many gyms, but they are quite expensive in comparison to Vienna and it is necessary to have a signed doctor notice in order to start a membership.

6. Testimonial

I am very happy with choosing Rome. It is very beautiful city and it was great to experience warmer weather. Luiss university is definitely the best option in Rome. Life is very different from Vienna, so it takes time to get used to it. It is very expensive to find a place to stay at, so I would start searching very early to catch the cheapest options. ESN Luiss Roma made my experience unforgettable and I suggest everybody to take part in many activities from the beginning.
