In general both WU and Uppsala University are very helpful. Uppsala will send you a document that show all the courses that you are eligible to attend. As soon as you've chosen the courses and they have been approved, Uppsala will automatically sign you up for the course, so there's no stress if you get in or not. Also the welcome days organized by Uppsala are very informative, and they provide a shuttle from the airport straight to the uni and then to the accommodation. It is the same Airport as if you fly to Stockholm. Make sure to bring enough warm clothes, i forgot that in the beginning.
Uppsala housing office makes it very easy for students to get good accommodation. Theres a number of options to choose from, and you can then choose your top 3 rankings. In 99% of the cases you get either your first or your second choice. In general every accomadation is very safe and well located. Only differences are in price and how modern they are and with how many other students you live together in a corridor. I choose Flogsta which is the cheapest one, and not the most modern one, but by far the most social one. you share a corridor/kitchen with 11 other students, but you have your own approx. 20m2 room with your own shower and toilet. I had great luck with my corridor mates and we quickly became good friends and organised shared dinners. It was slightly outside of the city center but by bike you were there in like 10 min and 5 min to the economic university.
The campus is not quite as nice as the WU but still really comfortable. In general academic level is rather similar to WU depending on the courses. Professors are super kind and nice and everyone is on first name basis. Depending on the course you take there's differences how many Swedish people will be in your class. In my first class it was almost 50% in my second only 5. Yet the local students are very kind and welcoming. Courses and teaching style are also pretty comparable to the ones at WU.
for the entire exchange
As Uppsala is rather small most of the commute happen by bike which is super efficient. The entire city is made for cyclist. Also Uppsala is very safe, I never heard of any incidents happening. The best thing in Uppsala are the Nations which are a kind of student association. There's 13 nations with different focus points, every student can join a nation or multiple depending on preference. The nations also have their own building where they organize multiple social events. Some do yoga classes other have clubs or bars. Theres also gasques organized by these nations which are basically seated dinners (They require a suit/dress). I recommend Stockholms and Varmlands Nation. These Nations also serve affordable Lunch. Theres also great coffe spots (my favorite was cafe Uno). In general it is a very social city. Theres also multiple gyms, many of them offer classes like yoga, pilates, boxing and many more! In Summer you can also go swimming nearby and play padel for example. The social life is what makes Uppsala the best student city in the world!
For me my exchange was life changing. I've met Incredibly nice people from all around the world. I've had lovely memories with them and went on very fun trips. Also the academic system was very interesting to see and the professors were incredibly smart and talented. I truly learned a lot and grew significantly as a person. The highlight for me were the people and the nations, no day ever was boring, it is such a social hub that you can always find someones who is willing to go on an adventure with you.
