- Check for the flight options not only from Vienna but also from neighbouring countries, normally cheaper ones are from Frankfurt - Research the accommodation options in advance but in HK they normally open for booking two months prior to move-in date - Look for an accommodation by checking the host university website with tips (I found multiple affordable studios vie their recommended providers), contact the program manager, try to find someone from HK as their home school to ask them and send your request also to their uni group chat
I booked a slightly more expensive room but provided by a reliable and big company (Habyt), they also have a referral discount so if you manage to find someone who currently lives in a Habyt room or apartment, you’ll get a one-time 15% off monthly rent. Nevertheless, be prepared to pay a lot for accommodation in HK, it is very expensive. I didn’t care that much about the location and was living near HKU MTR station. It was a very nice neighbourhood and just 10 mins away by metro to Central, where most of the people lived. I know for sure that most of the court was living on the Hong Kong Island, that is also more of a party area University was far, as it is located outside of city, so I had to leave the house 1h15m or 1.5h in advance. It is also possible to find an accommodation closer on an Island line.
There is a gym on campus for free, teaching style is less intense, but they like to combine many workload types in one subject.
for the entire exchange
Hong Kong is very safe, at least from what I have experienced. Public transport is clean and arrives mostly on time. Sport is very expensive there, but some museums are for free. The beaches are also in close proximity to the city. Nightlife is expensive but fun enough.
Great experience, near the sea and possible to explore Asia
