I don't have specific tips for the application process other than bringing a general interest in French language and culture when you want to spend one semester there. I bought an interrail ticket to travel to Strasbourg because I knew that I want to travel a bit during my stay but thats not necessary. Normal train tickets with ÖBB / DB work well and mostly drive over Frankfurt.
I stayed in a shared flat in the city center which I shared with one French guy and which I found on Facebook. In general, the French people still do a lot in Facebook groups when it comes to searching / offering rooms in a flat. Most of the international students stayed at Crous housing and I would definitely recommend that as well. Even if the rooms are very small and simple, it's the best way to get to know other international students and you are very close to university (best choices are Paul Appell and la Somme) Strasbourg in general is a very safe city.
The EM campus is smaller in comparison to WU campus and it's a nice building but I didn't spend much time there since there is not a lot to do around. The work load and the teaching level in class are generally a bit lower than in Vienna. The professors sometimes don't have the best English. Course recommendations: - Innovation Management
for the entire exchange
I bought myself a bike in the first days on a flea market (also possible on Facebook or leboncoin) and I would highly recommend that since it's the easiest and fastest mode of transportation in Strasbourg. the way from the city center to university by bike is approximately 10mins. The public transport (trams and busses) is also very good and a monthly pass costs around 25€ I think. There is university sports where you can choose up to three courses and all are free of charge. The newly built sports center is very nice! There are weekly events organized by ESN and Strasbourg in general is a very lively city. You can go to most of the museums for free with your student card.
I would definitely recommend doing the semester abroad in Strasbourg if you are looking to spend your time in a lively but rather small student city. Strasbourg has the perfect location within Europe to do a lot of trips and explore regions and countries around. Nevertheless, don't expect a very high quality of the university in comparison to WU.
