1. Preparation

Try starting early when it comes to looking for accommodation, in Lisbon at least the housing situation gets really messy when it gets close to the new semester. Also sometimes it is also smart to join student clubs or erasmus clubs before arriving, since you then know what events are happening and you can also try to make some connections

2. Accommodation

Lisbon is very expensive when it comes to accommodation and there are some scammy inserts especially targeting erasmus students. So be careful and use common sense before booking. If possible use contacts or other connections to find your place to stay, otherwise there are some sites especially for students like uniplaces where you have an insurace (but of course the prices are higher). Idealista is also good to find accommodations

3. Academic life at host university

The ISEG campus is very central. Overall I would say the facilitites are pretty okay and new, but nothing special, also the classrooms can get very cramped. Most of the courses I visited had 20-40 students and the teaching style varied quite a lot. Some courses very mostly frontal and some were very interactive, but all of them included group works.

5. Every day life in the host country

Very lively city, there is something going on everyday. If you want to go out you will probably start at Bairro Alto and just go with the flow. The best part of course is that the beach is only a 30min train ride from the center away, in carcavelos you can go surfing and do all kinds of beach stuff. Also the nature around Lisbon is amazing, especially if you like the ocean. I think I went surfing 3-4 times a week depending on how busy uni was.

6. Testimonial

Met amazing people and had enough time to go for some trips around Portugal (definitely try to visit the Azores and Madeira). Spent as much time in the water surfing as possible. Had a lot of Pastel de natas.
