1. Preparation

I would primarily choose this University because of the city. Other than that I do not have any more tips for preparing. Look for housing early

2. Accommodation

We looked at Uniplaces and before joined some whatsapp groups for the student housing community in Lisbon. We rented a whole flat for 4 people and got pretty lucky. Be careful with the sites as there has been a few scammers on them as well. I can recommend contacting people who live in the flat currently to see if the flat is nice or looking for a place when you are there. The housing market is tough though. We lived in Alameda area which i can highly recommend. It took 25 min to my uni (Nova IMS).

3. Academic life at host university

The courses were quite interesting but and i liked the teaching style. I however did not meet many students at my uni and stuck made friends outside. I recommend taking easy courses if you want a chill life, like management or marketing courses. The Statistic courses were easier compared to WU. Be aware the its a data science school and some subjects thus will be a bit harder. Exams matter a lot. Getting a good grade is easy but always getting a 1 may be difficult. What matters mosts are the groups. Make sure you select group members carefully. The lessons are always in the late evening and in the firist 2-3 months you basically have nothing to do. Everything starts in December and exams are in January.

5. Every day life in the host country

Public transport is very good but uber/grab is also super cheap. If you are above 23 you need to pay around 30€ per month for public transport. Social events are numerous and its a super good city to meet people and spend time doing sports or socialising.

6. Testimonial

I can definitely recommend going to Lisbon. Nova IMS is also really nice since u do not have mandatory presence in many cases. However note that you will need to spend january in Lisbon as all exams are in that period. The best thing were day trips and travelling around the country. The weather is nice until November, where it gets very cold in the houses and a lot of rain- keep that in mind
