1. Preparation

Check the university page for possible courses that interest you and make sure that you comply with the prerequisites for the unit.

2. Accommodation

I would definitely recommend the student accommodations, either at the university or in the CBD (YUGO Perth City is a great choice). From the CBD, it is very easy to get to the beach.

3. Academic life at host university

I loved my classes during my exchange. The professors and tutors were really friendly and helpful. It is a very laid-back culture, which does not mean the units are easy; however, they place a lot of emphasis on papers and assignments, which I find very helpful, especially in the field of Economics. There is everything you could possibly need on campus, from medical care to a food court.

5. Every day life in the host country

It is a very safe city. The public transport is not as good as in Vienna, but it is still quite good compared to many large cities, for instance in the U.S. Perth is investing a lot in city development and transportation these days, so in a few years the city will be a completely different experience than it is now. Kite surfing is great in Perth; however, some people say you should watch out for sharks. :) If you enjoy the typical Australian sporty lifestyle, it is an amazing place to go. If you prefer the typical European clubbing scene, there is a high chance you may be disappointed.

6. Testimonial

Perth is an amazing city to live in. I truly got into the lifestyle of waking up at 5:30 in the morning and going for beach walks with friends. The running culture in Australia is incredible, the sun is shining all the time, the people are extremely open and friendly, and the surfing opportunities are amazing. Travelling around Western Australia, going on road trips down south with friends, and making some great Australian friends made all the difference.
