The application process at WU was uncomplicated. The website of the International Office has a good structure and provides important information on how to apply for the exchange. When it comes to preparing your semester abroad it is important to find a housing option that meets your needs and to fill out the Online Learning Agreement in time. I travelled to Warsaw by car, because I took a lot of luggage and also items like a PC, monitor and kitchen supplies with me. There are also other travel options like the train, if you don't want to go by car.
I searched the internet for an accommodation in Warsaw. In a short period of time I found a room at Shed Warsaw Campus Living, which is a student & coliving accommodation. It is located on the south side of Warsaw in the district Mokotów. I felt very safe in this area and it took me approximately 20 minutes by public transport to get to the university. As a tip, I can personally say that living in a student & coliving accommodation gave me the opportunity to meet new people very quickly, which was great for feeling comfortable in the new environment.
I was very satisfied with the academic life at SGH. The university buildings are in good shape and have a nice interior design. I would say SGH has a great international academic culture with many exchange students and a lot of courses in English. The courses often included group work activities, which was good for improving communication skills and interacting with other students. I mostly took courses that had an international focus and they were interesting.
for the entire exchange
In my opinion, the public transport system in Warsaw is really good. Most of the times, I drove with the tram and metro, which are clean and punctual. Overall, I felt comfortable and safe in Warsaw. There are also a lot of social/leisure activities that you can do there like museums, concerts and exhibitions. The night life scene is lively with many places where you can have a good time. When it comes to sports options, I personally enjoyed playing table tennis and football.
My exchange experience was amazing, because I met a lot of new people with whom I had an awesome time together. Furthermore, I enjoyed living and studying in Poland since it is a country that is very interesting to me. Living abroad was important for my personal development as I got the experience of adapting myself to a new environment. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to do this exchange semester.
