1. Preparation

I had very few problems with my preperation for my stay abroad as everything went quite well. I travelled to Salamanca by plane anad then took a bus directly from the airport to the busstation in Salamanca, which was the cheapest and most direct route.

2. Accommodation

I first startet looking for accomodations on Idealista which was quite frustrating because most apartments were only available for a stay of at least 10 months and very few places offered something for students who's stay was shorter. In the end I got a recommendation through a very kind provider on Idealista: She told me that there was a very small student residence in the center of the city called "La Salmantina". I was very glad to get the last room in the residence. My stay there couldn't have been any better. It is right in the heart of the city just a minutes walk from Plaza Mayor. We were roughly 20 students in the residence. Almost exclusivly spanish students (mostly girls as it was formally an all female residence). Lunch and Dinner were included as we had the two nicest cooks (Simona and Sonja). It was the perfect living arrangement for my stay abroad. It took me around 15 min to get to the university on foot which was also great. I would recommmend to get a place in the centre and not in the outskirts, even if they are closer to the university. It is much better to life central in this beautiful city than somewhere outside of the city centre.

3. Academic life at host university

The University was quite well organised and the facilities were very clean and orderly. I personally wasn't hugely into the courses but objectively there was nothing wrong with them and some were quite decent. All the courses had mandadorty attendance which was alright because I only took 4 courses and all of them were between tuesday an thursday, so I always had a very long weekend. I would recommend International Fiance: The Professor was veryyy kind and understanding and speaks perfect german as he once gave classes in Vienna at WU Also Innovation Management which was a project based course and therefor was quite easy.

5. Every day life in the host country

The best thing about the city is that you can walk everwhere. I did not use the bus once. The city is very livly and there is always something to do especially because there are immense amounts of cultural activities to be found in the city. Museums, Art Gallerys, Shows etc. Everything can be found in the city. There is also loads of places and opportunities to to sports. I personally played a lot of football during my stay and also made a lot of use of the running tracks that the city provides. But I also knew people that played Volleyball, Basketball and other sports. Futhermore the nightlife of the city is extremely livly but in a very pleasent way. There's loads of students out everyday as a third of the populations is made up of University students. And even though the city is quite full in places during the night it always feels extremly safe and everyone walked home with their headphones in their ears without any worries!!

6. Testimonial

I had the most wonderful exchange abroad in Salamanca and would 100% recommend this beautiful city to everyone who wants to have an eventful but at the same time calming experience. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to live in this livly city that feels like you have become stuck in time. Its wholly unique medieval spanish flaire and the casual way of living the city provides made for one of the most wonderous experiences of my life.
