1. Preparation

I recommend taking a deeper look when choosing the host university. While the location isn't the most important part, it's helpful to know which campus you are going to.

2. Accommodation

I searched for about 6 weeks in total. At first I was very picky but at the end I just took what I could get. I lived with six girls in an apartment located in the center and it took me around 45 min to get to university. But I would always recommend to choose living in the city than living next to the university.

3. Academic life at host university

The economics campus of the complutense is very far away from the city center and in bad condition. You can not compare that to the WU. There is also attendance in every subject, some teachers take it more seriously than others. Other than that it is a very ineractive teaching style. Try to take simple courses and, if your spanish is not that good, try not to take spanish courses in subjects that are very theoretical.

5. Every day life in the host country

The public transport is very good and very cheap, but it ia also a very walkable city. It is very safe, except some small parts of the city center. There are a lot of events, mostly party events. Madrid is also a very sporty city- a lot of tennis courts and padel courts. You can also run very nicely right next to el rio.

I loved Madrid and the people. The food is amazing and going out is a lot of fun. Also the flights are very cheap starting from Madrid.
