2. Accommodation

Idealista worked best for me when searching for accommodation Most common option is a shared apartment with other students; this worked out well for me Eixample and Gracia are the best locations, central, safe, and good for getting to university Try to live close to a train station, since it takes around 50 minutes to get from Barcelona center to ESADE Verify that the flat actually exists and book through safe platforms, since some people try to scam you

3. Academic life at host university

Campus facilities are good Teaching style is a mix of group work, assignments, and exams; some courses don't have exams at all There is an 80% attendance requirement (8 out of 10 lectures) Course recommendations: Social Impact Entrepreneurship and Basics of Investment Banking Supply Chain Management and The Euro and the Economic Crisis were very high effort Be careful when choosing groups for group assignments, since other universities have different grading systems for their exchange semester and might have different goals for what grade they want to achieve

5. Every day life in the host country

Public transport is quite good; for 45 euros you get a 3-month ticket covering all public transport in Barcelona I felt very safe overall, but you need to be careful with pickpocketing in certain areas, e.g. El Raval, and in touristy public places in general Broad offering of social and leisure activities: sports like soccer, padel, and volleyball, plus hiking in the mountains and the beach nearby Lots of events organized for exchange students, which makes it easy to get to know people fast Very good cafes and restaurants

What made my exchange special was meeting people from all over the globe, building friendships I'll carry forward. Barcelona offered excellent options to travel both within Spain and to other countries, and the city itself had a great mix of events, restaurants, bars, clubs, beach, mountains, and sports. On top of that, I learned a lot in my university courses.
