Look for housing in advance if you not plan to stay at the university's housing, as housing prices are incredibly expensive. Housing from the university is far outside of the city and I would recommend to get a shared flat with fellow WU students, as you experience the city better. I can recommend flying over China, as those flights are incredibly cheap.
I rented my own apartment. I looked on Airbnb and took one with a central location and a good size. It was a private accomodation. I lived two stops by metro away from the university, right by Prince Edward. I can really recommend to book something in this area, as you are close to the red line, which goes to the Island. Hong Kong is incredibly safe, you dont have to worry about anything.
The campus Wass nice, but not the most modern. The academic culture is different to WU as it is a very frontal teaching style. I would say that the academic level is similar to WU and it is possible to get good grades. I'd recommend taking Mergers and Acquisitions as the professor is really good and knows his field incredibly well. Also strategic management is cool - the professor (Xinyi BIAN) is super nice.
for the entire exchange
Public transport is incredibly practical and good. Metro every two minutes and on the weekends through the night. Uber is the same price as in Vienna. City is safe, you dont have to worry, no one will steal anything or else. Social life is the best, go on hikes, go to the beaches (Shek o, Repulse bay), club scene is amazing (Le boudoir, Minh, Iron Fairies, Cassio, FAYY) Sports is good as well, we often played Tennis in the public parks.
You meet the most interesting people from around the world. We went on amazing trips in Asia as Hong Kong is located in the center of Asia and you can fly everywhere within 2-3 hours. The connection of nature and a metropolis is truly impressive.
