1. Preparation

- read the fact/information sheets carefully in order to avoid mistakes (departure dates,…) - get in touch with your peers (student, who is going to the same partner university with you) - start early with preparation (at least 5 months in advance)

2. Accommodation

To find an accommodation was difficult and tricky (french system is very complex) Student residence 7th district (in between the university and the city centre) - 10 minutes by foot Safety: not the best one, but still fine (avoid region around Guillotiere); if you want to be on the safe side, search something in the 2nd district of Lyon Tips: get in contact with fellow students for shared flats; inform yourself about the french system (grant normally needs to pay taxes in France - if you have the possibility, pay everything in advance and not monthly to avoid inconveniences

3. Academic life at host university

Campus is modern, new and beautiful Still very young, so the organisation is not that well developed compared to WU A lot of group projects, presentations,… Course recommendations: Strategic Access to Markets, Managing a competitive advantage; Major: Developing Business in an international environment

5. Every day life in the host country

Public transport is pretty good in Lyon (pay a monthly fee - 25 euros; you have to get a special card from a TCL station first; or use the bikes - 20 euros a year safety: a lot of demonstration, watch out for thieves; but in general easy to avoid Emlyon proposes a lot of different sport activities that you can do

6. Testimonial

exchange with different cultures --> see specific things from different perspectives learn a lot about a different country and its way of living student life was very chilled, but only if you choose the right courses I've never traveled that much and saw that many new things before
