1. Preparation

Look for flights as early as possible since the price might vary heavily between dates. (flights just after New Year's are very expensive). Also book a flight back and forth instead of just one direction. You can select the option of an adjustable date for the flight back and save a lot of money that way. I had to pay a lot more because I didn't know that and thought I had to book two separate flights since I wasn't sure when I was going to fly back. Also don't wait to long when filling out your documents for the Visa and make your appointment early since that can take time.

2. Accommodation

I replied to an Email sent out by my partner university where someone was giving away his room for a subleasing. It was a room at the student housing "The Station Alafaya". This was a good housing close the university and it is also where most of the local people live. It is close to the university (even tho there is closer options) and has a Walmart just across the street which is handy. I can recommend this housing to other people, just be careful so you have a proper contract and you don't have to take the first offer you get in terms of price.

3. Academic life at host university

The main campus is very beautiful and has good ammenities. When electing your courses you should be aware of which campus you are on. There is some courses that are taught on Rosen Campus which is far awar from the main campus. In terms of courses I found all of mine very intersting. Maybe choose something that you couldn't do at home and you just find interesting. However, be aware of the level that your courses are since level 4000 courses can be difficult and a you have to put a lot of effort into them. If you are intersted in stocks and finance I can recommend the "Portfolio Analysis and Management" course which is a high level course teaching these topics.

5. Every day life in the host country

Public transport is very bad and cycling can be dangerous since drivers tend to overlook cyclists. A car is for sure the best option to travel in and around Orlando. However, the university offers free bike to rent during the semester which is very practical and you can actually get around well in between university and your housing if you don't want to rent a car. There is a lot of sports option on campus. The RWC offers a big gym, tennis, pickle ball, volley ball and much more. The university is in a very safe neighborhood and there is trails where you can run.

6. Testimonial

In my opinion what made this experience special where the many short trips we were able to do. We did a road trip through Miami, Key West and Tampa which was a lot of fun. We went to Ford Lauderdale and Cancun for Springbreak and even flew to San Diego for a week. But there is also nice places very close by such as the many springs in Florida and Coco Beach.
