1. Preparation

Reading travel guides, getting information about cheap flights and connections beforehand helped save a lot of additional costs. For example: The flight to edinburgh was way cheaper than a direct flight to glasgow, there are cheap city busses connecting the cities.

2. Accommodation

Accomodation search was tricky, there was student accomodation on campus but we only received notice for them very late so I decided to book an off-campus accomodation just to be sure I had a place to stay. I stayed at the Kyle Park house, a "Unite Students" accommodation. It is a 10-15 minute walk to campus, which sounds walkable but due to glasgow being very hilly it can be quite challenging. The accommodation is fenced up and has cameras, so I felt very safe there. In general, it is an okay accommodation, not up to the standards we have in austria but compared to some other accommodations I have seen there it was good.

3. Academic life at host university

The campus is pretty big and on a hill, so walking can be challenging. The facilities were very modern and full of people, the library very spacious and they even have a student bar on campus which hosts pub quizes and other events. The teaching style compared to WU is way more interactive, we had to take part in every course. I can fully recommend "New Venture Planning" and "Managing Service Experience", as they were interactive, easy to follow and did not have exams, so there is more time to enjoy time off campus, although there were quite a few assignments to submit.

5. Every day life in the host country

Public transportation is good, the metro nicely connects the city, there are many busses and it is pretty walkable. The city is very safe, nothing ever happened to me. There are many pubs and bars, which mostly make up the social activities. There are some events like the varsity football match and good parks for when it is sunny.

6. Testimonial

"People make Glasgow" is their official slogan, and to be honest its very true. The people I met made my whole exchange worth it and even helped forget the rainy weather in Glasgow!
