1. Preparation

- I travelled from Vienna with Flixbus, because the tickets are inexpensive and it's fast - Book your accommodation really early in advance, because in Ljubljana there are a lot of exchange students and the good places are being taken fast

2. Accommodation

I found my accommodation through a list of trusted landlords provided by SEB Ljubljana. Searching on facebook groups and telegram channels was more complicated and a lot of fake offers were posted. I lived in a very big house with 3 floors, that is being used as a hotel during the summer. I had my own room with AC, fridge and my own bathroom, just like a hotel room. Kitchen was shared, very big and roommates were gathering there every night. The house was in Bezigrad, 15 minutes by foot from campus, so I did not use a bus to reach university. I payed 630 total (500 rent and 130 utility costs) per month.

3. Academic life at host university

The campus is very clean and modern. The library is small, but very cosy with enough learning places. The university also has a courtyard garden and a great caffee-restaurant in front, where music is played and students go for coffee or aperols. There were plenty of events in the university We had many very fun business competitions, company visits and interesting guest lecturers. One night the big hall was turned to a cinema and a finance movie was played. Another night was a ,,board game'' night. There is a whole summer student festival in front of campus with 3 huge stages, free drinks and food, cool activities etc. Weekly, the student team there organised events, snacks or something fun for the students. Teachers were very passionate for their subjects and the assignments they gave out were also helpful for life itself. I can definitely recommend HRM and Tourism Management courses. Overall, the courses are not hard in terms of material, but they require attention, because a lot of assignments are given and also attendance counts towards the final grade.

5. Every day life in the host country

The public transport costs 25 euros per month and is very well organised. Ljubljana is a small city, so I was mostly walking. A big advantage to the city for the students is the BONI System. These are meal vouchers every student receives through an app, called Prehrana. In shortly, in almost all restaurants in Ljubljana there is a special student meal, where in combination with the voucher, a student gets a salad, soup, main dish and an apple as desert. This whole thing costs 3,80, sometimes even less. In Slovenia this is defined by law and restaurants are not allowed to charge more than 3.80 per student for this 3-course meal. The restaurants and food in general was extremely good. The city is also very safe, there is not a lot of crime and is very calm day or night. There are only a few nice fancy clubs similar as those in Vienna, but there are a lot of pubs and chill bars. The city offers a very active running club for students, good gyms for a cheap price and even a free student gym with organised classes like pilates etc. There was one student organisation specifically from the SEB uni, which origanised weekly events or fun activities on campus. There was also a separate student organisation specifically for erasmus students that origanised trips every weekend to the neighbouring countries or interesting places in Slovenia and also parties almost every week.

I had an amazing exchange experience! I traveled almost every weekend, ate amazing food daily almost for free, met with incredible people from around the world, not only Europe and overall made incredible memories for those 5 months.
