1. Preparation

I found a shared apartment via Facebook and that was a really great idea. The people there were so nice and everything is so much easier when you have someone who knows the city and also with stuff (like washing machine, kitchen, etc.). If you wanna see more about the city and the university check it on instagram also. I arrived with the train, that took me around 10h which was okay and easier with 2 big suitcases but I would also recommend arrving via plane (which a made for my way back) - both is good.

2. Accommodation

As said I was in a shared apartment and that was really great. Be aware that most of the apartments (single and shared) have no washing machine. Everything in the city is so close also the apartments so you don't need any public transport. The city is super super safe, even if there's party everywhere and every time (if you live in in center buy good earplugs!)

3. Academic life at host university

It is a bit unorganized and confusing to be honest. What you have to study, when you have to be somewhere and everything in general is a bit intransparent and chaotic. But all in all it was nice though and I really really liked all of my subjects, because they are completely different from the subjects at home and you would never hear about those topics otherwise. The whole semester is very chilled and you just go to the classes and do nothing else and after the spring break everybody is getting locked in and you start studying crazy.

5. Every day life in the host country

They city is so so nice and totally underrated. Everything is so small and very close but you have everything there (Shops, Cinema, Bars, Small Club, Sport Center, Nature). You can go tu Brussels or other cities very fast and see a lot there (Paris, London, Brügge, Antwerpen, Amsterdam,....). The city has a very special vibe and it was super nice there. In the city itself you don't need a public transport.

6. Testimonial

So sum it up very quickly those were the best months of my life so war. Try to go to every event possible (from Kot Erasmus e.g.) especially in the beginning to meet a lot of people (those are one of my very best friends now). Meeting all those people, seeing so much and also developing so much was a great experience and I would recommend and exchange semester (especially in Louvain la Neuve) to everybody !
