1. Preparation

Course selections starts early so keep that in mind. It might take a minute to figure out which courses you want to do and which ones won‘t overlap. Get in touch with the other students and travel with them by plane. I would honestly recommend taking an Uber from the Airport to Uppsala (if you are a group of 3/4 it will be the fastest and cheapest option).

2. Accommodation

I stayed at Rackarsberggatan and would definitely recommend it if you want to make the most friends but also don‘t want to share the Apartment with 12 others. The location is great, it is only a 2 minutes Walk to the Ekonomikum (which is where all of your classes will be if you study WiSo) and only a 10-15min walk to the city center. You will have to share your shower and kitchen with usually 4 others, what I did not know before is that it is very likely that your roommates have been already living there for some time which meant for my case in particular that the kitches and shared bathroom was very dirty and had not been cleaned for over a year probably (so bring shower shoes and maybe look for a friend in whos kitchen you might be able to cook). But at least your room will be very clean, they are very strict with that. Others on the other hand were very lucky and became great friends with their roommates - its a hit or miss. Nonetheless, I would still recommend it, there are often parties in the shared garden or people just sitting together - so great way to make friends.

3. Academic life at host university

The Ekonomicum is not very pretty but all the students are soooo nice! The classes are honestly harder that I expected and the teachers are pretty strict. Choose your classes wisely. I would not recommend the Marketing Challanges Class.

5. Every day life in the host country

You can basically walk everywhere. My friends and I took the train to Stockholm 2-3 times a week which was awesome (only like a 35min drive). Join Nations! I joined the Stockholms nation and the Värmlands nation (best ones). Take part in all the activities that you can, like formal dinners and all that - you will meet so many sweet swedish students! Stockholms nation is basically just swedish and mostly business students I'd say. Värmlands is a little more international. I would also recommend going to their parties every week.

6. Testimonial

The best Part were honestly the people. Swedish people are much more open than I would have ever imagined, no matter were you go someone will come up to you and talk to you just because they are interested. Furthermore, the country is gorgeous no matter were you go - but i would also recommend doing to trips to Norway and Finnland since you're already up there. I visited Lappland to see the northern light, drive a snowmobile and went to a husky farm - it was a once in a lifetime experience that you have to do. I visited 7 Countries while I was there so I would recommend always check on cheap flights. And also visit Stockholm as much as you can it is the most beautiful city and there is so much to do.
