1. Preparation

I would travel by Plane to Uppsala! It is an easy flight and the train ride from the airport to the city is not bad either, but if you travel with all the other students from Vienna I would recommend taking an Uber this being the cheapest way pp. to get from the Airport to Uppsala. Always pack warm clothes and some kind of weather resistant Jacket, the weather can be unpredictable... Uppsala University really helps you with all the University stuff upon arrival in Uppsala. Get in touch with all the other exchange students from Vienna, them being your first Group in the new city.

2. Accommodation

Finding an accommodation was really easy due to it being provided by the city of Uppsala. But sometimes they will give you a room a week after the recommended days of arrival. So it might come to a short time you live somewhere else too. The Accommodations are all student residences, some larger some smaller, some with private appartments and some with shared living areas. I would recommend Rackarbergsgatan, it lies really central and close to the University. It all is still really safe in Uppsala, so dont be scared of rumors going around! Rackarbergsgatan is the best place to have a good studentlive and private live balance, Flogsta is good, when you want to live with 12 others in a shared area, but Rackies is just enough to make a lot of friends and has the best location advantage

3. Academic life at host university

The campus is all over the city, but you only will be at one location. It is fine, its not the most beautiful building but gets the job done and if you do it smart, then you dont have to be there a lot. The teaching style is similar to the one at WU, its half a seminar and half a lecture, that all end in tests and presentations. The academic culture is reallyfixated on everybody getting the chance to talk in class and share their thoughts. I can recommend taking the classes Business in Networks and Scandinavian leadership, which both where really easy courses. Global strategic management was quite tough to get a good grade, but still gives you 15 Credits, so its kinda a good choice if you want do be a little as possible in the Facilities

5. Every day life in the host country

Everyday live is really relaxed in Uppsala. You can get up get coffee everywhere and then go on with your day. Public Transport isn't that bad, but you can get everywhere by walking or riding by bike or E-Scooter. I can recommend visiting Stockholm as often as possible, it being the second most beautiful city just after Vienna i have ever visited. There are a lot of social activities you can do outside of uni etc. like running clubs, Gyms, hiking, skiing... You wont get bored, there always is a party going on and the student nations are always packed with other students, who plan alot of activities.

6. Testimonial

My exchange was special because of the people I met and the things I saw. There are so many things in Sweden and scandinavia that you should do, I think they will be a once in a lifetime chance for most people. A highlight for me especially where the gasks from the Nations, they where so much fun and we got the chance to talk with so many swedish people and get a real look into their student life and culture.
