1. Preparation

Before moving to Pamplona for my exchange semester, I looked for a room in a shared apartment on Idealista. You can find many affordable accommodation options there, which are often considerably cheaper than student residences. I decided to fly to Madrid and then take a bus to Pamplona. I lived in a shared apartment with Spanish students, which helped me improve my Spanish considerably.

2. Accommodation

I found my accommodation through Idealista and lived in a shared apartment with Spanish students on Calle Sangüesa, close to the city centre. The area was safe and conveniently located, with shops, supermarkets and restaurants nearby. It took approximately ten minutes to reach the university by bus. A student bus pass cost around €14 per month, making public transport very affordable. I would recommend looking for accommodation early and choosing a location either near the city centre or along a direct bus route to the university.

3. Academic life at host university

The professors were very friendly, approachable and supportive. The relationship between students and professors felt more personal and almost more informal than at WU Vienna. The Spanish students were also very welcoming, sociable and lively, which created a positive atmosphere both in class and on campus. It was easy to meet new people and become involved in university life.

5. Every day life in the host country

Everyday life in Pamplona was very enjoyable and active. I went to Synergym, a gym located in the city centre, almost every day. The University of Navarra also offers many opportunities to practise sports, including padel, tennis and basketball. Social life was lively as well. Going out every Thursday was almost a tradition among students and provided a great opportunity to meet new people and spend time with both Spanish and international students. Public transport was affordable and convenient, making it easy to travel between the university and the city centre.

6. Testimonial

During my exchange, I met some of the most interesting and inspiring people I have ever encountered and shared an unforgettable time with them. I also made valuable connections at the university that may be important for my future. Most importantly, I formed friendships that I believe will last a lifetime. This experience made my semester in Pamplona truly special.
