Your motivation is a very important factor in the application process. Clearly knowing why you want to attend Babson and why you chose the US for your exchange semester makes a real difference. For preparation, I recommend planning ahead. What helped me was creating a list of all relevant deadlines (both WU and Babson) to avoid unnecessary stress later on, especially with requirements such as vaccinations or the visa application.
Finding accommodation was easy, as Babson offers on-campus housing for exchange students. Room allocation is mostly random, so you cannot choose between a single, double, triple or a quad room, but you can indicate your preference. Generally, Babson is very safe throughout the entire campus, and you can walk from one end to the other in about 10 minutes.
The campus is very beautiful and walkable. Since Babson is a relatively small college, the sense of community is very strong. I felt very welcome and immediately felt like a part of the Babson Beavers. The courses are smaller than at WU and much more interactive. All of my professors were excellent and genuinely cared about their students.
for the entire exchange
Babson is a secluded campus, beautifully located in nature and close to Wellesley. However, public transportation is quite limited. On weekends, there is a shuttle service that students can use to get to Boston. Aside from that, many students rely on Uber. Occasionally, vouchers are available that provide free access to the Green Line, which takes about 40 minutes to reach Boston. Babson is not a big party school, but there are fraternity parties and mixers almost every week. Once or twice a week, sports teams may also host parties. In addition, Babson regularly organizes events that make it easy to meet new people. The campus offers a gym, athletic fields, an ice rink, and beautiful paths through the woods, which makes it ideal for sports and outdoor activities. To relax, I would recommend spending time in nature, walking to Wellesley, watching Babo games, visiting the gaming or music room, or unwinding in the Mindfulness Room.
My experience at Babson College was truly amazing. What made it so special were the people I met there. People often say you only have one life, but this experience felt like being given a second one—it showed me another life I could have. That perspective is incredibly unique and cannot be replaced by anything else. I had the best time at Babson and will cherish it forever.
