Inform about the semester dates. Be aware that you will have a short and intensive semester abroad with high academic demands. Find out about the HSG buddy program and register for the first events.
I stayed in student housing provided by the HSG. Very good location for the city center (5 min.), train station (3 min.), and university (15 min.) Student housing application is first come first serve, so be prepared and quick. You have to pay a CHF 250 fee for the application The location was very good and the room was fine but there are for sure cheaper alternatives if you search private
HSG has many different buildings, but most of them are located near the main building on a hill, which can be easily reached on foot or by bus. Teaching style and the courses are quite similar to those at WU. students are motivated and perform at a high level.
for the entire exchange
I rarely used public transportation because my apartment was centrally located, but it is very easy, though not cheap. HSG has its own sports center with an incredible range of activities on offer. From morning to evening, you can take part in a wide variety of courses and sports with trainers free of charge. There is also a gym available to HSG students free of charge. You should definitely take advantage of this. St.Gallen also has a relatively large selection of bars and clubs, but the prices are extremely high. Trischli is the main club for HSG students.
The HSG certainly lives up to its reputation. Almost every day there are events or speeches with and by renowned companies and personalities. The students are motivated and there are some high performers, but if you have the same aspirations, you can keep up. The workload is still quite high, especially because the semester is so short. In terms of leisure activities, the HSG's own sports program and buddy program are outstanding.
