I was in the student housing provided by City University of London. It was very close to the buildings of the University (10 min to Northampton Square and 20 min to Bunhill Row (Business School) by foot). Farringdon station was very close too. Very safe location and also walkable to Soho. Shared kitchen and two bathroom with 4 other exchange students (one other student can be nominated for the shared flat). Flats are not in the best condition but the housing is very central and many other exchange students are living there. Proactively ask the coordinator from Bayes Business School for the application form for the student housing to have higher chances of getting the spot. Price roughly 4700 Euro for 3 months.
More relaxed attitude for the students at Bayes. Good facilites overall, usually no attendance requirements, attendance is checked with tap-in cards. Less personal than at WU, except one choses Tutorials. Courses from the Finance undergraduate programm are usually more difficult but have less Essays and Groupwork. Exams for exchange students are held at different times than for the "regular students", usually in the week after teaching ends, writing the exams during the regular exam month is possible though if one wishes. Culture courses for exchange students like "Performing Arts in London" are interesting and can be 7,5 ECTS for "Freie Wahlfächer".
for the entire exchange
The public transport is expensive but efficient. If you travel at off-peak times, try to use the bus instead of the underground as it is cheaper and you can see the City at the same time. In the central parts of London it is very safe the walk around. There are endless options in London as of what to do, something for every taste. One is almost overwhelmed with the many events happenening everyday and there are great bakeries, restaurants, theatres, shops and so much more. The University has a cheap gym that in not too big but has most of the neccessary equipment.
The city of London is buzzing with life, so whenever you go outside you are sure to experience something new. Not only did I get insights into the finance world of London, but also the great food scene (Chinatown, food courts), performing arts, beautiful architecture throughout most of the city, and the internationality. There was so much to experience together with other exchange students.
