Thoroughly look into the classes that the partner universities offer in the particular semester; start looking for an accommodation early on; do not overpack since you probably will do quite a bit of shopping over the semester abroad
The VU had linked a website where one could register for an accommodation (similar to the registration for classes at WU). On the website one was able to look for different kinds of accommodation (shared room, private room, etc.). I had my accommodation in Lelylaan which was, in my opinion, well connected to the city centre and the university, and near the airport.
More papers to write compared to the WU, cinema on campus
for the entire exchange
There is no student pass for exchange students for the public transport so I would recommend to just tap in and tap out with your credit card. If you want to regularly visit other cities in the Netherlands, I would recommend to look into the NS subscriptions. There are more events held in Amsterdam (Instagram accounts will keep you up to date).
My exchange semester in Amsterdam was an unforgettable mix of academic growth and cultural discovery. What made it special was the city’s open-minded atmosphere, international community, and the freedom to explore both studies and personal interests. Highlights included cycling along the canals, meeting people from all over the world, and experiencing a vibrant, tolerant lifestyle that broadened my perspective.
