The application process is very easy and well explained for all students. I recommend only putting up universities you can see yourself studying at since it is hard to influence where your final destination will be. In the interview just be yourself! Don´t worry too much everything will be the way it is supposed to be:)
Look for an accommodation as soon as possible. A good location is one of the most important criteria for a good experience abroad. My roommate and I lived just the two of us close to Sol. That was the perfect spot. To find a good accommodation I recommend websites like spotahome or idealista. DO NOT life in a student home close to the university. The universities are far away from the center and you will spend all your evenings alone and have a hard time making friends. You have to life in the center of Madrid, this is very very very important.
The professors are very nice and will help you with questions. The courses are not very difficult compared to WU. At the university Autonoma I recommend the courses International Marketing, International Taxation and Foreign Trade Techniques. I do not recommend the course International Economics since it is a lot harder compared to the others. A little side tipp for your courses abroad you can choose any courses you want and furthermore you can do International Marketing instead of Marketing at WU if you want to do even more ECTS. The campus is not as modern as the WU campus but it is still very beautiful - you will enjoy your time there.
for the entire exchange
Madrid is a very clean and safe city. There is a lot of police who will take care of your safety. People are very outgoing and friendly. Especially if you try to talk Spanish the people will be very friendly. For sports I loved to go running to the Retiro Park. There also is the "VivaGym" which costs only 30 euros per month. Furthermore I can recommend the app "classpass" if you want to to workout classes, they offer anything from pilates to boxing. "Smartinsiders" is an organization that hosts many cool events which I recommend attending especially in the beginning of your Erasmus to meet people. In general go to every event in the beginning to find your people!
Erasmus is a great experience. I was overwhelmed and frightened at first but I quickly made my friend. Not everything was perfect but everything was exactly how it was supposed to be. always remember: YOU CAN`T LOSE IF YOUR GOAL IS TO GAIN EXPERIENCES!
