Travelling by train was very convenient; just make sure to book early in advance to avoid expensive ticket prices. I travelled by night train in a women's cabin and it was very comfortable.
I had a private contact in Milan who connected me with a girl who was subletting her apartment; unfortunately I cannot give any tips on search experience. My apartment was located very close to Bocconi (in Quadronno) and I can only recommend that area.
EU Law (Prof Spaventa): very challenging, but exam is doable in self-study. Key Issues in EU Law: VERY challenging, would only recommend if you are interested in topics of the internal market Legal Argumentation and Economic Analysis of Law: very much enjoyed this course because it is very different from the topics that are taught at WU; exam is not hard but a bit randomly graded Citizenship and Migration Law: not too much effort, including group presentation, would recommend to do it attending Gender Law and Women's Rights: interesting but many different lecturers which made it a bit confusing. exam also not too much effort
for the entire exchange
Its actually very similar to Vienna; better organized than the South of Italy. Public Transport was sometimes a bit messy, thats why I would recommend living close to uni. There is a broad range of events hosted by ESN network for exchange students, and also sport activities. The gym is expensive, but I found e.g. yoga classes in the city that are comparable to Austrian prices.
I really enjoyed Milan and met lots of great people. The highlights were definitely being able to go around Italy so much (take the train to Sicily!) and enjoy the vibrant city life.
