Have a close look at the course list + try to find an accommodation that isn't too far away either from CBS or the city center (housing service from CBS is very popular so a place isn't guaranteed).
Try to find an accommodation that isn't too far away either from CBS or the city center. Housing service from CBS is very popular so a place isn't guaranteed. I didn't get a spot and stayed at a student residence in Valby which is rather at the outskirts of the city. Rent prices are high but I'd still recommend to rather search a bit longer in a surrounding you like (This is something I would really do different now, as there are as in every city nice areas but also not so nice ones depending on your preferences). The University is not so close to the centre so keep that in mind. Also, everything is reachable by bike but the farer away, the more you may depend on public transport which can be annoying. Public transport is very expensive as well.
No course I attended had a mandatory attendance as most of them were electives. Some still required students to hold presentations. The campus has different buildings at different locations. The library at the main building is really nice but also at the other buildings there are some quiet study spots. Master courses are mostly international so it is possible to also get in touch with people there. I'd recommend taking part in all the welcome week activities (not only the mandatory ones). The academic culture is less hierarchical than in Austria. I had really hoped for the seminars to be much more interactive and discussion-based, as is common in seminars at WU (especially in the MA Socioeconomics program).
for the entire exchange
Public transport is more expensive, be aware of the different zones (can't recommend getting charged..). Very safe city, also at night. There are many nice museums, buildings, parks, cafes, bars,...
I met many kind and welcoming people both at the university and in everyday life. My exchange experience was especially memorable because of the beautiful parks and the harbor. One of the highlights was getting around by bike, which made exploring the city easy and enjoyable, especially together with other people.
