Try and get into ESADE/ DACH group chats for housing, events, help etc. Look at the reports for course selection
I found housing on idealista. We had a friend in Barcelona that could do the visits of the apartment. If you only want one room, you can find a lot on idealista. I lived in Eixample close to the Provence station, which is important to get to the Sant Cugat campus and can only recommend that area. It was very safe, had so many nice restaurants and bars and was very beautiful. I think it is important to be close to a S1 station because the way to campus can be super long otherwise.
The campus is quite far, but once you're there it's super nice. I loved the teaching style at esade. The professors were all very nice and the courses were interesting. Attendance is quite high (80% and you have 10 sessions per course, so you can only miss two) so try and schedule your week accordingly.
for the entire exchange
Public transport works great. Use the trains to take day trips to Sitges, Blanes, Girona etc. In general I felt very safe in Barcelona. There is always so much to do. Follow the right insta accounts and look for events (food, fashion, party, social etc.) In Barcelona I joined a gym and took some other classes like Pilates and HIIT. There are a lot of offers. Classpass is great as well in Barcelona.
I had a great time in Barcelona. Take all the opportunities you get from the uni and elsewhere. Go on trips and explore in and outside of Barcelona.
