If you’re really want to visit Scotland, I can highly recommend it. But you should check carefully before whether you’ll like the city and the weather. You should also start looking for student accommodation early, as it gets booked up very quickly. It’s best to find somewhere near the university. And make sure you pack the right clothes, because it really does rain more often than you think.

Finding a room was relatively easy, it’s just important to start looking early, as I said. I searched online for suitable rooms in studentresidences and eventually found a good one. Prices vary greatly, as many offer different facilities, such as a gym. However, that’s really unnecessary, because the university has a very good one. All the accommodation options are very safe. But I’d go for a room in the city centre, as that’s where you’ll spend most of your time and everything is within easy reach by foot.

The campus was very beautiful and big, and it had a large library where you could get all your work done in peace. The gym was excellent and even had a swimming pool where you could go for a swim. There are also plenty of places to eat in near or on the campus. The lessons were very good and easy to follow, but I would still recommend choosing Level 1 and 2 modules. You have to write a lot of essays, but they aren’t very long.

People very rarely use public transport, and when they do, it’s very cheap. You can get everywhere in the city on foot. The whole city is safe, but at night you should, of course, be careful where you go. There’s plenty to do, especially outside the city in the Highlands, but you should definitely look into this and plan ahead. The university organises a lot of events, and you should also register with the Erasmus Office, as they organise plenty of them too.

My time abroad was brilliant and well worth it. Everyone was lovely and became a great friend straight away. The highlights were the trips and hikes in the Highlands at the weekends and St Patrick’s Day in Dublin.
