Exchange Report

I would definitely advise to do good research on the uni courses especially the course load - in my case the courses were pretty hard which suprised me a bit so try to ask as much as possible (uni website, peers, online) but apart from the uni what i did was to do a bucket list of things i definitely wanted to do in time abroad (which was pretty cool because my exchange friends didn't really plan anything so i could always suggest a side quest)

I think this part was handled pretty well by WU and also by the VU so all i had to do was follow their adivse basically. But what i would definitely advice is to contact your peers (from WU that will go to the same exchange uni) about the housing etc. because this also helped a lot for the whole process. I chose the uilenstede shared flat studio which i would definitely recommend if you like to have some "me - time" once in a while + the room is bigger then the other ones at uilenstede. But what i have to say is that the shared kitchen rooms at uilenstede definitely give you the opportunity to meet people easier and quicker + what i experienced was that those flat mates often grouped up and stayed a friend group over the whole exchange. i felt very safe and the location was perfect for going to uni or to the city as well.

Campus facility is top, especially the new buildings are WU standard i would say + they have a big "courtyard" which especially in the summer months was very busy and fun to chill with friends during breaks (with basketball court, beachvolleyball and calisthenics park). The culture is more relaxed as the uni is not business only - so you would not see lots of students in suits or shirts as on WU campus and i would say it was also a bit more diverse and open in general. The teaching stye varied but in general i would say it is pretty similar to WU. I would recommend doing Level 100 courses - there are some interesting once like Global Supply Chain Management and Programming for Economists and the peers there were very opened to meet new people because those are first year courses so the vibe was more communicative compared to Level 300 were everybody was more focused and seemed less interested in meeting you. Depends on your goals obviously.

Public transport is super expensive and you can only get a student pass if you have a part time job so biking was my transportation mostly (even uber can be cheaper especially at night). I felt very safe during my stay (as a man). And i loved all the activities i did (wheter it was traveling, doing stuff in the city, going out especially) but then there are so many sport options very close to uilenstede so this ended up being my favourite thing to do - football, padel, running, biking, tennis, basketball - there are so many options. I would recommend to get the Uni gym membership because there everything is included (so gym, football, basketball, workout groups etc.) + you can meet lots of people there again and its right on the Uilenstede campus
