Plan the Modules you'd like to attend on your ERASMUS ahead, as soon as the courses at the University are posted, select interesting courses. Due to being assigned to the econ-department at HU Berlin, I wanted to attend more social science courses to ensure a good fit for my curriculum - here writing the Professors and asking to attend their courses is required. WU offers an extensive range of support and informative events to guide you in the application process

I stayed in a shared flat found over wg gesucht - this proved to be effective for me My apartment was located at Prenzlauer Berg, which made to commute to HU quite short. Apartment tend to be rented out as "Warmmiete" so every additional apartment-related expense should be included in the price The housing market is a bit more expensive than Vienna so expect to pay around 100-200€ more on accommodation, though sometimes there are really good deals

HU offers a wider range in elective courses than HU, the teaching style is quite similar though. Most Master courses are held in english while Bachelor courses tend to be in German. Classes are always blocked in two hour realms, so the course will be planned from e.g. 10-12 but class will be at 10:15-11:45 (I arrived quite early in the first few weeks) The campus is distributed within the centre of the city, though sometimes courses will be at different departments so calculate some time for commuting. HU also offers a wide range of events for international students, so there's always some workshops happening

Similar to the USI Kurse, HU offers a wide range of leisure activities for reasonable prices, though there's generally a wide range of gymns, studios, etc Public transport is included in the University fee (total 305€)

Generally, I liked Berlin, though be aware that the exchange in the winter semester will obviously be quite cold - the semester here goes from oct - late feb. Restaurants and coffee shops have quite similar pricing to Vienna, though there's a lot more variation in price. Groceries are significantly less expensive, though rent makes up for the price difference The university fee includes a public transportation ticket for all public transport is included (not including long-distance trains etc.) so it's a great opportunity to travel around Germany.
