Start preparing your application early, especially if you have specific universities in mind. Carefully check the requirements and deadlines on the WU International Office website, as they can differ by region. When writing your motivation letter, focus on why the exchange fits your academic and personal goals rather than just the destination. Keep all required documents (e.g., transcript, language certificates) organized and ready for upload — the online platform can be a bit time-consuming. Don’t hesitate to contact the International Office for clarifications; they are very supportive and responsive. Start researching accommodation, and insurance requirements as soon as you receive your nomination - some processes take longer than expected. Make sure to clarify course recognition with your WU coordinator early to avoid issues later. Budget realistically, as everyday expenses abroad can differ from Vienna. Finally, stay open-minded — flexibility makes the experience much smoother and more rewarding.

I lived in a private accommodation "Trinity Court" - it's an private student accommodation which offers one flat for students who stay not longer than 4 Months. It's near to the university and much prettier than the official university student homes. It's also near to a bus station which ist perfect for night outs.

The campus is very pretty. There are three “blocks” - two of them consist of old buildings, and the third is the library and a new building. The teaching style is based on communication and a lot of group work. There are no classic lectures where you just listen.

or me, the city wasn’t very student-friendly. Of course, there were plenty of bars, but the public transport system can’t be compared to Vienna’s. The last bus leaves at 2 a.m. on weekends (and even earlier on Fridays); otherwise, you have to take a taxi. The coastline is very beautiful, and you can go for a run or a long walk there. For leisure activities, you often need to travel a bit outside Aberdeen, but there are many societies that organize a wide range of events and trips - for example, the hiking society.

It might have been due to the city, but in hindsight, I would recommend choosing a different place if you’re looking for the classic study abroad experience. However, if you enjoy hiking and exploring nature, it’s a beautiful starting point for trips. In my opinion, the local students tend to keep to themselves and don’t easily include exchange students. Still, I met a lovely group of international students with whom I’m still in touch. In terms of personal development, the experience was definitely valuable. However, you should be aware that studying at this university can delay your degree, as it’s common to take only two courses per semester. I was able to take a third course by explaining that I needed it for my scholarship, but I still ended up earning only 12 ECTS.
